inkstone: Air Gear's Ringo pulling down her glasses (you can count on me!)
[personal profile] inkstone posting in [community profile] bujo
If you haven't been keeping tabs, I recommend checking out the comments in the newbie-friendly resource post. Lots of good ideas and suggestions there!

Today, I thought it'd be fun to share our essential bujo gear. Maybe it's something basic like your bullet journal and a ballpoint pen. Or maybe it's something fancy like this amazing stamp and sticker set you have.

Whatever it is, leave a comment with a photo and/or a simple list of items. Consider this your introduction to the community and each other. Go!

I don't have all my stuff handy right now, but for my work notebook I'm using:

* Moleskine large grid notebook - I have liked grid better than dot grid so far, but I'm thinking about switching up to the extra large for the extra space. (It lives on my desk at work so the lack of portability isn't an issue.) The other notebook I'm eyeing off is the Delfonics Rollbahn. Mmmm.

* A really nice black ballpoint pen - I know everyone seems to use fineliners but for basic writing I much prefer a good ballpoint. Normally I'm a fountain pen junkie, but Moleskine paper isn't fountain-pen-friendly, at least not for Lamy inks. (Except in the cahiers - weirdly my gaming notebook cahiers seem to stand up to ink bleed much better than the classic Moleskine books.)

* Coloured Triplus Fineliners for emphasis, graphics and highlighting. I have about 30-40 of these in different colours.

* A looooooot of washi tape. :) I'll post pics when I can; a lot of it's at work.

Yeah, I'm using a Moleskine cahier for my bullet journal and my fountain pens are doing fine on it. But I've had trouble with non-cahier Moleskines so that's definitely a thing. What are your favorite ballpoints? There are so many people on Fountain Pen Network who malign ballpoints but I personally rather like them. They're just different. :)

Man, if I did the Midori bullet journal thing with a coloring book insert, I would so be tempted to have colored fineliners to do coloring sheets for relaxation. Your collection is very impressive! I love the Midori for novel-writing notes, but for a bullet journal it's just too damn small for me.

As an ongoing thing I like the classic Parker ballpoint pens, but my current favourite is the Pilot DR Grip pen: http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/pilot-dr-grip-advance-retractable-ballpoint-pen-black-da623630bk http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/pilot-dr-grip-advance-retractable-ballpoint-pen-black-da623630bk

They’re comfy to hold, and very nice writing action and ink.

Basically, I prefer ballpoint pens with a medium or bigger point, and oily/“rich" ink so it flows well without scratching.

Ideally I could use fountain pens everywhere, but that’s not practical - and they’re not waterproof and I’m a klutz, so...

Cool, thanks! I used to be all about super-fine points but as I grow older and my eyesight continues to deteriorate, I'm realizing the benefits of writing a bit bigger!

I too am a klutz, so yeah--there are times I can indulge my love of my fountain pens, and then there are times when I use a happy happy ballpoint or rollerball instead.

I'm a great fan of ballpoint pens - they're my preferred drawing tool, even *g*
